POV (imagine) : your bf/gf/bestie got you this
(Conversion Format)

This is our Winning Format series, where we decode the content patterns that don't just go viral, but also convert. Every day, we’re scanning social media to identify the repeatable formats and behavioral patterns that drive results. Here,we map them clearly so you (and our clients) can navigate the chaotic jungle of digital content with confidence. You can explore them all here. And if you need us to fix your social media, it's here.
How to understand this format?
This format starts with a classic hook using a “POV” (or “Imagine”) caption … something like POV: your best friend bought you this, or your girlfriend surprised you with this, or your bestie just gifted you this.
To make it work visually, it’s great to show the product coming out of its box … like it’s just been unwrapped.
It gives the impression that the viewer is arriving in the moment, and the gift is for them.
Examples
Example 1 - (1M views) - one example with the boyfriend case, in the visual you actually see boyfriend + girlfriend using it together
Example 2 - (111M views) - now with your bestie, and you are also using it together (so it helps viewers project themselves using it with their besties)
Example 3 - (1.4M views) - this one is interesting because the text hook also mentions one of the benefits of the product (to help you relax)
Example 4 - (6.7M views) - same thing with a different product, we assume lots of stressed girlfriends would share that in DM with their boyfriend
Example 5 - (1.2M views) - slightly different, not evocating a pain point but more a period that's coming
Example 6 - (20M views) - same hook, different product
Example 7 - (3.8M views) - as you can see, this format works well with "cute" products
Example 8 - (6.6M views) - this time about the best friend buying you a gift
Why it's good for conversion
Right away, it puts the viewer in a positive emotional state. They instantly imagine what it would feel like to be on the receiving end of that gift.
That feeling is much stronger than if the product were just shown in a plain, clinical way.
Instead of a dry presentation, you’re creating a small emotional story.
That’s what makes the experience feel personal, and way more engaging.
How to execute properly
Drop the viewer into the moment like they just walked in … no build-up, no context, just the unboxing mid-action.
Let the hands feel human, not perfect. Use natural light, soft sounds, and let the product emerge slowly.
Let the “POV” text do the emotional lifting. Avoid clean commercial vibes; this should feel like someone caught a memory, not filmed a promo.
The magic is in the suggestion, not the reveal.
Let the viewer finish the story in their head … how it feels, who gave it, why it matters.
